I have always thought Ratchet and Clank was a really good series especially the new ones seeing as they have a little more cartoon flair and look jaw-droppingly stunning and remniscient of the best animated films have to offer.I really love how they did Qwark in the newer games and the humor is really good all around.The weapons are really memorable and dynamic also which is really neat whereas Jak was a really good action platformer the design in general is a bit more unique.They're a little shorter than the older ones(Most games are fairly shorter nowadays).One of the really awesome things with "A Crack in Time" was how open the game world was when you were Ratchet whereas before they would do something like make it extremely linear or surrounded by water or cliffs and suffice it to say I am sure nobody misses the cliche in older platformers like Ratchet or Jak with the big fish that came up and ate you whole if you ventured too far by swimming!
Even when it is linear it is really memorable such as when you are Clank seeing as he gets a lot of really challenging puzzles where you can manipulate time.Basically although the old ones were great the newer ones were even greater so especially in terms of story but then they made a bunch variations such All 4 One which strayed off from the usual gameplay which was neat but old school gameplay is what keeps it working well in the end.
I obviously have way too much to say regarding that so I'll just shut up.I suppose I just have an appreciation for games that are not all M rated although I obviously like some of the better stuff it is a nice break to play through something filled with cartoon goodness but can still genuinely be fun,original,have some quality,and take the plot somewhat seriously unlike other lighthearted stuff intended exclusively for young people.
